Brief Description: Flight #12, Flt test #7, Stalls, 1:11
|
|
Reinstalled the painted wing tips.
Flight test #7 was to determine power on and power off stall speeds. Stalls were done at ~6000' msl (DA about 7000'). The minimum indication on the A/S indicator is 30mph.
Had the following indications:
Power-off, no flaps: IAS 40mph, RLI 2/3 in the red Power-off, full flaps: IAS 30mph, RLI 2/3 in the red Power-on, no flaps: IAS 30mph , RLI 1/3 in the red Power-on, full flaps: IAS below 30mph, RLI 1/3 in the red
I was feeling comfortable about how the engine was running, so after the stall tests I went on a "scenic" flight in my test area, from PYM>2B1>5B6>PYM. The weather after Hurricane Arthur passed to our east was clear but windy. PYM conditions were 340/20G25, 24c, 29.99. T/O and landing on 33 was no problem with the winds and gusts.
Tac time 1:11, fuel used 3.8 gallons, GTW 869#.
Logged the flight with an iPad1 and DUAL gps running Cloudahoy for the first time. Images 2-3 are from the Cloudahoy flight review. The red track is where I was doing the stall tests. The turbulence was less just off shore.
